#ScgBos Aug 19-21

Hello
This blog will be covering #MTG and #Scgbos of my birthday weekend.

Darren Collins picked me up Friday night. We went to his house. i looked through his collection's. WHile he cleaned up after his cats and vacuumed etc. As a collector myself i was very impressed #cards #video-games he had his old nintendo powers from he was young my entire collection was lost, I was jelly.

We play tested Kiln fiend vs. Caw-Mill for an hour or so. It did very well at the start winning quite a bit towards the end the Caw blade-Mill started showing its strength. One game when darren asked me how many cards were in my lib
ME: "twenty five", Darren "25 exactly"? Me: "groan". He used jace's second and those 0 2 blue creatures to mill me for exacties. Its like getting exact damage with a red deck except you mull their lib. Too funny

Oh here is the my DeckTech

We picked everyone up. @TheRyanCooper, Matthew Axtell, Joseph Foye, Kyle Mossison, Darren Collins and Myself @Freeman0032

We went out to red robin for dinner i had a salid. We bought some drinks and went back to darrens to playlet. We played for a while and kiln Fiend red was doing well. I played against Coopers Green Ramp that was then turned to Green Red/Ramp (before the end of the week it would change again, I liked that he was never quite happy and always inventing). We did this for a while till Green ramp got the better of me and I had to lay down and fell asleep on Darren's chair.

Day One (Standard Open)

The trip up I drank a large coffee on the way up sitting in the back and was hyped. We got there I registered my deck went to a vendor to make some last minute buys for the sideboard. I think everyone should have at least three act of aggression in sideboard right now. After two sheats of paper my deck was registered. I sat down vs a a attractive gril wearing a N.P.R t shirt. Nice.
On game two after sideboard I won turn three with a Kiln fiend out, Casting Dismember, Lighting bolt, and Assault Strobe. She showed me 4 pyroclasim's she had sideboarded in I told her i was lucky she did not draw them. I wished her luck for the rest of the weekend.

The next round was blue/black, Where is the caw blade?
He cast black sun 3 times first game ouch.
Next game i had him on manaleak tried to play out a turn three kill but he had go for the throat. Derp Derp Derp
1-1

The third match was vampires i had beat it play testing With some luck thrown in. Vampires gets so much value scry drain life etc. gatekeeper so hard to keep up.
I won the first game. lost the other two playing out my hand and Vamps was just get more value per card.

My next and final round was another female Valkuit player. I guess ladies love valakuit.
She played well and I coudent get there. At this point i was playing for fun and telling jokes more concerned with making the young lady laugh. I played well just coudent get there.
You win some you lose some.

Notes

Our vampire player Mathew was finished 38

Also a young player named Trevor Coulombe at his first event at 15 was the one person to beat Gerry Thompson and got a feature match. Was very impressive the first game he lost when they both had the 4/6 card draw blue creature and gerry had 37 cards in his hands at one point. He kept the perfect 7 to get the win. When he mental misteped his opp Spell pierce for the first game win. Trevor Coulombe said i didn't see that mental misstep main board. He told him to read his articles. Trevor Coulombe won the next two.

Draft

I did a draft that day and got passed the silliest card's: 2 Gideon avengers, Rites of Flourising, Primordial Hydra, Garruks Horde, and a Solemn Simulacrum. All past from my right haha. I pushed blue in when it should have been Green, WHite and lost. Derp. Guy i drafted with was amazed he won after i showed him the deck.

That night we went out to eat at the 99. Darren bought some drinks. I ate a wrap, I found a nice South Carolina Came Cocks hat some customer before us had left. It became a funny joke and i wore it the rest of the weekend. Darren said what if the last guy had lice. I said then I have lice now too. I had a few drinks in me at this point.
Matt told the waitress it was my bday and they brought cake and sang happy birthday MR. Freeman cause they dident know my first name. Amazing
After this we drafted again and we bet 5 doller's to the winner. I took Red. black with three lava ake. And ran everyone down. Weeeeeeeee

Day 2
Legacy Open

First I was playing EDH with a friend and someone came over and said they were a big fan of the "Gamecocks" after seeing my hat. I thought this was too funny. Loudly announced that there was another "Gamecocks" fan to everyone i went up with. Made my day.

The second day two friends were in the legacy open.
Darrenn ran Dredge and we played it the day before i played it some seems like a fun deck if not crazy. My deck could barely keep up, I had a blue, white stoneforge deck. After losing over and over Darren let me use his Dredge after 4 games i can say that i understand his deck and its very fun. The best is the other games where i would misplay and have nothing to do and pass the turn.
Our other player was white blue stone forge.

Darren was 3-1 at one point. I dont think the numbers got better after this.

We all played in standard win a box. They announced the event. I had just asked my friend to play test Splinter twin. I had it in my had and without ever playing it. I said screw it ill go in cold. I was nervous.

-Win a Box (8 man standard)

My first Opp sits down and says how lame Splinter Twin. I said its so stuped and i would never play it (bluffing) as i was shuffling the deck up.

The first game he mulliganed to five then conceded I was stunned. Made me think how just being reactive and playing your best game is so key. His wife questioned him and he said he didn't want to reveal any info on his deck. I had not waited for him and played a mtn He said he knew i was playing red and would be able to sideboard I said okay.

He was a aggressive red older player with his poor wife sitting next to him telling him to calm down and its only a game. He did not like waiting for me to think my plan out. HE would loudly yell 3 to the face after lighting bolt. HAH not the kind of player i would like to play in casually.

Game two i had everything i needed in my hand i had to make sure i could get the combo I have read a lot about it and played vs it splinter twin. WHen i cast ponder he was loudly upset and told me i lied about my deck. I said I was bluffing and he was free to call a judge he declined.

I thought long and hard then cast the deceiver during his turn tapping a mtn on turn 4. Then he asked me if i had it. I showed the other card and he scooped. Very weird first time playing it inever got to play the combo out. My opp had given up in his head.

I reported the results and he said he wanted to play "For fun" now. I knew it wasn't going to be fun and he sidebaoarded for this match.
I said sure and hurried him shuffling playing slow because i needed to playlets way more then he did.

He won our game for fun. I one point i cast ponder, and i preordained he loudly gave me feedback i showed him the cards and backed it up. I told him it didn't matter since it was for fun. He ended up winning the last fun game. I told him it was my first time playing the deck he said it showed.I shrugged it off. I was happy to see him walk away and have a win under my belt going in cold with a new deck. This was one of the most fun i had the entire weekend.

Next was Mathew our vamps player. He pushed through game one. Game two he had me and three turns. The winner of the other mathes was watching us now and my friend Said i had no outs and was out in three and to conceded so the other player would not see vamps sideboard. I offered a draw to split the winnings he accepted.

Vamps vs. Birthing pod/------ was the finals in the win a box. My friends said he made some play mistakes but he attacked. Derped a dismember off the top off his deck for the win. Here is a picture. I was pretty happy with him and told him he was a winner. Also gave me my fav pic from the weekend

We left to go home after and stopped at the cracker barrel.

This place was crazy our waitress was very cute, she was not having a good day. ALl 6 of us sat down. THey were out of mac and cheese one of my friends was very unimpressed. Mathew orders ome eggs. Was served it and ate before i could see.
He asked the waitress if thats all it was one egg. after 20 minutes and she said oh no i forget some things. haha She brought me some cake for my birthday.

I sat in the backseat on the way back halfway back ohm. I started getting super fidgety and my bladder was going to explode i told darrenn he was like " can you wait 10 miles or should i pull over" I groaned and told him to pull over. I was so relieved.

Thanks to everyone this weekend i had an amazing time!

When i go home my littler brother had made chines food. And bought 6 packs to draft I also had 12 i had one.
We stayed up to the wee hours drafting and then he told me he had two giddeions jura. So we threw our cards to gather and made cawblade and that deck is very good.

Thanks for Reading
